PERTH POLICE SERVICES BOARD

The Perth Police Services Board is a five-member board consisting of two provincial appointees, two municipal appointees and one community appointee chosen by Perth Town Council. Under the Ontario Police Services Act, it is responsible for governance of policing in the community.

The Perth Police Services Board is committed to excellence in police governance and the principles of community-based policing while ensuring adequate levels are maintained in terms of crime prevention, law enforcement, assistance to victims of crime, public order maintenance and emergency response.

Board meetings are public and usually take place on the second Thursday of each month, (except in July), at 3 p.m. in Council Chambers at Perth Town Hall. Exceptions will be noted on this page.

As of April 6, 2013, Policing in Perth has been contracted with the Ontario Provincial Police under Section 10 of the Ontario Police Services Act. Under this section, the Board is responsible for:
