OFFICIAL PLAN


Perth’s Official Plan was adopted by the Council of the Town of Perth under By-Law #3304 in November of 1999 and was approved with several modifications by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs in May of 2000. It is intended to provide the policy framework to guide land use decisions made by Council as it attempts to regulate growth and change over the next 20 years by building on opportunities and addressing the challenges of the community. It will also be used by provincial ministries when they are considering proposals to change the pattern of development in the Town.

 

The Official Plan endeavors to balance the aspirations of Perth for accommodating and managing growth and changing development within the broader context of provincial interests as espoused in the Provincial Policy Statement. Within a changing land use planning environment in Ontario, Perth will become increasingly responsible for the review, processing, approval and implementation of planning decisions. The Official Plan outlines the context for these evolving responsibilities and decisions by establishing goals and objectives for the direction of community change and for managing the provision of services in the long term.
